Having a pretty relaxing Friday night. Sushi for dinner. Good workout and walk. Nerding it up online while Matt puts his new computer together. Netflix movies ready to play. That's the stuff.

Sweet Treats: Strawberry Macaroons

Still have yet to find a place around here that has decent fresh macaroons. I found these in the gourmet food section at Marshall's ($3.99 for 6). They were pretty good, although I think the strawberry flavor was just a tad too sweet.

More books to read! I think I'm in a nosey mood lately because I keep picking up memoirs. So far I've finished Jacey Dugard's book. My heart just ached for her experience and I'm glad she seems to be doing well now. I started Amanda Knox's book after and I just can't seem to put it down. Her whole experience in Italy just seems bizarre to me. She details pretty much every day of her time there. Odd Thomas and The Sword of Shannara weren't something I'd normally choose, but they were recommended to me so I figured I'd give them a shot. Gulp -- I've seen several bloggers posting about it and thought it sounded interesting, again....not one I'd normally choose. Kathy Griffin's book, well....I just find her to be hilarious (even if slightly obnoxious). I started it as well and I'm surprised with how open she is about the darker side of her family life. I had no idea. Hopefully I'll finish them all! Have you read any good books lately?

Birthday Time with a Sinkhole Cake

Last weekend we celebrated Matt's 31st birthday. I'm sharing with you the ghetto birthday cake I baked for him which somehow collapsed while in the oven (we affectionately called it the butthole cake). We had a pretty childish day, went to an arcade and played some mini golf. All in all, a pretty good day!

I'm determined to win next time.

Passion Pit Concert

 On a whim I entered a contest online to win tickets to see Passion Pit in Cincinnati. I didn't expect to win but when I got a phone call that I was among some of the winners I was super excited! Matt and I have been big fans of the band for a while, we almost went to one of their concerts the last time they were in the area but it sold out pretty quickly. The date and venue ended up getting changed but it was pretty neat because it was in an old movie theater. I have to say, they were awesome live. Something about their music makes me feel really happy. (Sidenote: It's still a lot of fun to date someone who enjoys *most* of the same music you do)
